PITTSFIELD Executive Director Reports to NAMI Berkshire County Board of Directors The mission of NAMI Berkshire County is to support, educate and advocate for those in Berkshire County whose lives are affected by mental illness. In the support realm, NAMI provides support groups and educational conferences in concert with other mental health organizations within Berkshire County. The programs of NAMI Berkshire County include Basics, Family To Family, In Our Own Voice, Ending The Silence and Youth Mental Health Retreat programs, along with peer and family support groups. NAMI Berkshire County also provides Citizen Monitoring of the psychiatric units of Berkshire Medical Center and assists with local Crisis Intervention Training programs. The Board is made up of the following committees: Executive, Finance, Community Education and Events. The Executive Director provides assistance to each committee as needed. Summary of Responsibility: The Executive Director is responsible for achieving the goals of the strategic plan by managing and operating the organization\'s programs and operations under the supervision of the Board. The Executive Director is the primary spokesperson for the organization in communications with mental health professionals, government officials, educators, philanthropic and corporate funders, the media and the general public. Qualifications: Experience in Human Services or relevant field preferred, and a minimum of three years\' experience in a leadership position with fiscal responsibility, preferably in a non-profit organization. Excellent oral and written communication skills for serving as an effective spokesperson for the organization; strong interpersonal skills appropriate for working with diverse stakeholders as well as strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to use various computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel, Quickbooks, database management systems and Internet navigators. Familiarity with Customer Relationship Manager (CRM) software, Email Marketing and Donor Management software and social media is desirable. Experience inthe mental health field and knowledge of social work programs is preferred. Primary Responsibilities: Assists the Board in establishing policies and procedures and developing short- and long-term plans for accomplishing NAMI Berkshire County\'s mission. Implements and periodically reviews the programs, policies and practices of the organization with the Board. Acts as the \"face of NAMI Berkshire County\" by serving as the primary liaison between NAMI Berkshire County and the community. Develops and maintains appropriate relationships with community groups and mental health advocacy organizations. Acts as an advocate for individuals and families affected by mental illness. Manages the NAMI Berkshire County communications (correspondence, newsletters, website, social media and email). Works in conjunction with the executive committee in preparing the annual budget of NAMI Berkshire County. Manages the preparation of all grants, including researching new grant opportunities, and ensures all data is documented regarding numbers of people served within the County through in-person meetings, phone call requests for help and/or emails. This data is reported to the Board at monthly board meetings and is also used for grant applications and the annual report. Additional Responsibilities: Remains informed about national, state and local legislation pertinent to persons affected by mental illness and to mental health professionals, and shares information with the Board. Participates on the Executive Director Council of NAMI National and participates in any affiliate meetings scheduled by NAMI MA. Oversees and advises on the planning and coordination of all fundraising and/or mental health awareness events and supports the Board-led educational and fundraising events.
