Job Description Summary

The Advanced Lead Engineer demonstrates leadership in delivering & communicating business goals/programs/processes for a technical area or business segment in strategic IP matters. The applicant has the experience and expertise to develop IP strategy solutions to strengthen IP positions for the future of flight at GE Aerospace.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work with assigned technical area or business segment to develop strategic IP – including trade secrets & patent applications. Methods to generate IP include organic efforts in the technical area or business segments, as well as facilitating IP harvesting sessions with cognizant subject matter experts to generate impactful IP that protects GE Aerospace freedom to practice and/or provides blocking/licensing opportunities.

  • Understand IP portfolio of assigned area to inform subject matter experts on the strength of IP, assertion & licensing opportunities, maintenance actions, etc.

  • Implement plans with guidance to meet technical requirements of assigned components and systems. The assigned area will relate to thermal systems design, high pressure turbine components and associated materials, but may also include direct working knowledge of other engineering disciplines, such as computer and electrical engineering, and/or aircraft engine or aircraft (avionics) software.

  • Develop action plans with guidance to respond to issues and problems.

  • Lead and/or participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and process continuous improvement (LEAN) efforts to provide standard work.

  • Assure proper documentation of technical and/or IP data generated for assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering/legal policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Sciences, or Materials

  • IPorPatentExperience

  • 4+yearsofPowerGenerationorAircraftEngineStructural,Systems, Thermal, Aero&Design

Desired Characteristics

  • Masters' degree in Materials, Engineering or Sciences

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
