Kuehne+Nagel Sea Logistics Sales Representative in Dartford, United Kingdom

As the Business Development Manager for our Dartford Branch, you will be in a customer facing role to develop and promote the growth of our sea logistics business

Your Role

Our Business Development Managers - are part of our Customer Care Location Teams reporting to the Customer Care Manager with a clear focus on new business in the Small & Medium Enterprise (SME) segment. Business Development Specialists have a thorough, up to date and in-depth understanding of the trade-lane(s) in terms of the geography of the trade (e.g. France to Saudi Arabia, China to Mexico, UK to the USA and so on), and the service offerings such as sailings, transit times, reliability, specific country documentation regulations, local standards, operational requirements, as well as the type of industry/goods/commodity traded on the particular routes. The Sea Logistics Sales spend most of the time in customer-facing activities, hunting for a new business, and they work hand in hand with the Customer Care teammates.

Your Responsibilities

  • To generate new business opportunities with a clear focus on SME

  • To take pricing decision in alignment with the relevant stakeholders

  • To prepare and submit quotations to the customers

  • To demonstrate superior Sea Logistics product and trade knowledge

  • To deliver presentations about our main Sea Logistics products

  • To monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing & products.

  • To report customer complaints to the Customer Care team

Your Skills and Experiences

  • Minimum a year of business to business, face to face sales experience in Freight Forwarding, Sea Logistics preffered

  • Strong communication skills and proven record of sales success

  • Effective and proactive time management/ forward planning

  • Vast knowledge of KN products and solutions (internal applicants)

  • Ability to build customer “value propositions”

  • Experience of working/managing existing Customer portfolios/pipeline

  • Experience of developing sales leads

  • Experience of working within a targeted new business environment
