Google Senior Financial Analyst, Energy and Sustainability in Austin, Texas

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or another quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience

  • 7 years of experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), consulting, or a related function, or an advanced degree

  • Experience working in energy and sustainability

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience translating complex problems and concepts into financial models and presentations

  • Experience with databases, SQL-based languages, and the use of analytical tools on large datasets

  • Ability to comprehend, synthesize, and communicate complex topics to leadership

  • Ability to take initiative and self-direct in an unstructured environment; comfortable with ambiguity

  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to coordinate with non-technical and technical individuals on projects

Financial Analysts ensure that Google makes sound financial decisions. As a Financial Analyst, your work, whether it's modeling business scenarios or tracking performance metrics, is used by our leaders to make strategic company decisions. Working on multiple projects at a time, you are focused on the details while finding creative ways to take on big picture challenges.

As someone who knows the workings of the core Finance team inside and out, you'll lead individual projects to transform planning, tracking and control processes. You'll provide senior level management with insightful recommendations, planning and reporting support.

Technical Infrastructure (TI) is the backbone of Google - the global data centers, networks and integrating hardware and software that power both Google customer products and services and our internal operations. The Energy and Sustainability Finance team supports (renewable) energy procurement to operate Google’s data centers as well as a wide range of sustainability initiatives including 100% Renewable Energy, 24/7 Carbon-free Energy, Net Zero, Water Stewardship and Replenishment, and etc.

And nobody at Google loves big numbers like the Finance team when providing in depth analysis on all manner of strategic decisions across Google products. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $132,000-$196,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Perform financial due diligence on Energy and Sustainability transactions including energy supply agreements, power purchase agreements (PPAs), commodity hedges, climate investments, and other structures.

  • Partner with internal teams to develop/refine carbon reduction and Net Zero roadmaps.

  • Develop innovative solutions to cost-effectively achieve the company’s operational and sustainability goals.

  • Exercise business and technical understanding to influence large and complex programs (e.g. Net Zero) spanning across multiple organizations.

  • Conduct market research on energy markets, climate technologies, and corporate sustainability.
